What Is It?
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (formerly PTLLS) qualification is an entry level teacher training course. It does not entitle candidates to teach in the sector, but it is a gateway qualification which allows progression to the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET formerly known as the CTLLS) and the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET formerly known as the DTLLS).
What do I need?
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (formerly PTLLS) qualification is an entry level teacher training course, so there is no requirement for prior teaching experience.
Proof of Level 3 vocational skills for the area in which you will train/teach if you are to progress into teaching in the further education and skills sector.
For individuals expressing an interest in teaching vocational subjects, 3 years’ industry experience is required. Finally candidates should have good written and spoken English and be IT literate (Level 2).
Who’s It For?
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is for people who are new to the Lifelong Learning Sector. This means that you don’t have to have any previous teaching qualifications or experience, this is your foot in to the teaching door. The qualification is also ideal for people who already work in the industry but want to obtain another recognised qualification.
How is the course taught?
The 3Es offers a classroom based environment at our center in Birmingham. The course includes lectures, group activities, workshops, tutorials and sessions in assignment writing.
We also offer an Introduction to Teaching Video Course which can be viewed online. This is a short course to prepare an individual for Level 3 qualification. The first module is absolutely free
How will I be assessed?
The Level 3 qualification will be assessed by a combination of assignments and observation of teaching or training. The teaching will be a simulation of teaching (micro-teaching) to your peers on the course.
